New York City

This is why I do this...

Last night I was watching Daredevil, and the characters went on a romantic date to an Indian restaurant....

Daredevil - Season 2, Episode 4 - A woman takes a blind man on a date to a restaurant that is 100% ambiance.

Daredevil - Season 2, Episode 4 - A woman takes a blind man on a date to a restaurant that is 100% ambiance.

As soon I as I saw this, I knew I had seen this restaurant before......and the people were on a date.....and it is a movie set in New York......and it's an indie.....and it's KISSING JESSICA STEIN!

So I did a quick google, and found this screen shot from Kissing Jessica Stein (2001):

And that's why I write this blog.  Because a set in Daredevil reminded me that 15 years ago, when I was still in high school, a similar location (can't confirm it is the same) was used in an indie movie about lesbian experimentation.  And I need to get this useless information out of my head.

And I want to go to that restaurant!

Panna II

Milon

Milon

Daredevil is clearly filmed at Panna II, in the East Village.  You can tell because the wall padding is the same.

But per this NY Times article, Panna II is in a feud with Milon over who thought of hanging a bajillion string lights first, and there are other East Village copy cats.  I think they should settle this like men:  Highest electric bill wins.

Branché is plugged in!

I was just sent this image by a friend of mine.  WHAT THE WHAT!

Marie Claire magazine has just release a free magazine and they are calling it Branché.  This thin magazine was handed out on the streets of New York City, and doesn't have an online presence.

My "id" is saying "That's my name!  I thought of that first!"

My "ego" is a bit relieved.  This publication confirms that a trendy bunch of high paid professionals:

--think the name Branché is cool.

--clarified with a real french person to make sure Branché means what I thought it meant (cool, trendy, etc).

--feel confident that Americans can handle a word with an accent.
